What they produce are static QR codes: the data lives inside the pattern itself. That is exactly right for a WiFi password on a guest-room card or a contact you hand out once, because the information does not change and there is nothing to maintain. It is the wrong fit when the destination might move, when you need to know how many people scanned, or when you want the same code to point somewhere new next month.
