Activate or Deactivate a QR Code

Last updated Feb 22, 2026

Every dynamic QR code can be toggled between active and inactive states. This lets you temporarily disable a QR code without losing its content, analytics, or short URL.

How it works

  • Active (Live): The QR code functions normally. Scanning it redirects to the destination or hosted page.
  • Inactive (Off): Scanning the QR code displays an "unavailable" page instead of the original content. Scans are still recorded in your analytics.

Toggle from the QR code detail page

Open any QR code and click the status badge (Live / Off) to toggle it. A confirmation dialog will appear before any change is applied.

Toggle from the QR codes listing

On the QR codes listing page, click the toggle icon next to a QR code to switch its status directly.

What visitors see

When someone scans an inactive QR code, they are redirected to a default "QR Code Unavailable" page. On Premium plans and above, you can customize this page with your own branding, logo, and message.

Good to know

  • Only dynamic QR codes can be deactivated. Static QR codes encode data directly and cannot be controlled after creation.
  • Deactivating a QR code does not delete it. All content, scan history, and settings are preserved.
  • The inactive page settings are configured at the team level, not per QR code.
