Adjust the correction level
In the QR Code Design step, you're also capable to adjust the error correction level under Advanced options.
Error correction in QR codes ensures data can still be retrieved even if the QR code is damaged or partially obscured. This is achieved using Reed-Solomon error correction algorithms, which add redundant data during the encoding process. This redundancy allows for the reconstruction of lost or corrupted information.
QR codes offer four levels of error correction, each balancing data protection with storage capacity:
QR Code Error Correction Levels
Level | Recovery Capability | Recommended Use Case |
---|---|---|
Low | Recovers up to 7% of lost data | Best for scenarios where damage or obstruction is unlikely |
Medium | Recovers up to 15% of lost data | General-purpose QR codes requiring moderate protection |
Quartile | Recovers up to 25% of lost data | Environments with higher risks of damage or interference |
High | Recovers up to 30% of lost data | Critical uses or harsh conditions |
Higher error correction levels result in larger or more complex QR codes but provide increased reliability. The chosen level depends on the specific application and potential risks of damage.
